Dr. Jon Klarsfeld, known as "Dr. Jon", is the proud owner and operator of Mobile Dental Vet. Dr. Jon is dedicated to the proper diagnosis, treatment, and maintenance of oral disease. Through Mobile Dental Vet, he, along with his trained dental technicians, has fulfilled a need in the South Florida veterinary community for high quality pet dental care. Dr. Klarsfeld graduated from Cornell University with a focus in Animal Science and went on to obtain his veterinary degree from Louisiana State University. For five years, Dr. Klarsfeld served as a veterinary dental resident. He has successfully performed over 7,500 general and advanced dental treatments and surgeries. Dr. Klarsfeld lectured at the World Veterinary Dental Conference on cutting-edge dental care. He has also lectured to local veterinarians from Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties concerning pet dentistry.

How do I book?
Open Locations, pick a partner stop, sign in to the patient portal if needed, choose a day and time, select your pet, then confirm. After the visit, a digital report appears in your account.
Do you perform this procedure on cats too?
Yes. We love cats — please bring them to see us.
Do you ever use anesthesia or any medications?
For anesthesia-free cleanings, we do not give your pet medication before or during the procedure. From a behavioral standpoint we are able to complete roughly 95% of dogs and 80–85% of cats. If your pet needs full anesthetic dentistry, we will tell you before treatment.
Does my animal need to be vaccinated?
Yes. A current rabies vaccination is required.
My dog is aggressive and has a history of biting. Can we try this?
If your dog or cat is aggressive with people, we cannot attempt the procedure — that protects our technicians and your pet.
When should my dog or cat have their first teeth cleaning?
Bring your pet in between 1 and 1.5 years of age for an assessment. Treat their teeth like your own: do not let plaque and tartar build into thick, discolored calculus. The cleaner their teeth stay throughout life, the healthier they stand to be.
Is this legal?
Yes. Anesthesia-free dental cleaning is a veterinary medical procedure. It must be performed under direct veterinarian supervision in permitted facilities. Anyone offering this in your home without a veterinarian is practicing illegally — report that to your state veterinary medical board.
Is this procedure painful?
Neither the cleaning nor the positioning used for it is meant to cause pain. Hygienists are trained in basic anatomy and keep a comfortable posture. Your pet is placed on an orthopedic mat during the procedure.
Do you clean above and below the gumline?
Yes, each and every time. We clean all surfaces of all teeth.
Why does my vet say this cannot be as effective as an anesthetic dental?
Many veterinarians have never watched a properly performed anesthesia-free cleaning. People are not put under general anesthesia for a routine cleaning. If we can safely and comfortably restrain a pet and access the entire mouth, routine cleaning does not require anesthesia. We welcome veterinarians to observe a visit or invite us for a demonstration.
Can you perform dental X-rays without anesthesia?
Not currently. If your pet needs anesthetic dentistry, choose a hospital that takes dental X-rays while they are under anesthesia — that is a core benefit of going under.
How do I brush my dog’s teeth?
Use a pet toothbrush and veterinary toothpaste (never human toothpaste). Lift the lip and brush in small circles along the gumline, especially the outer surfaces of the back teeth. Start with a few seconds and build up to daily brushing.
